(Dan Tri) – The Ukrainian army is said to have won the tank battle in Vuhledar thanks to applying a flexible tactic.

Military experts from Defense24 said that the Ukrainian army overcame Russia’s superior firepower advantage at the Vuhledar `pan of fire` in Donetsk by applying a guerrilla tactic with the participation of anti-tank mines and artillery.

Accordingly, despite Russia launching many main battle tanks, TOS-1A series-launching rocket artillery and powerful attack helicopters, the Ukrainian defense force still calmly organized the attack.

After the first few tanks are hit, other vehicles will often move in different directions to retreat, thereby increasing the risk of being hit by Ukrainian anti-tank mines.

Defense24 commented that the use of many reconnaissance UAVs to provide battlefield images and direct artillery fire in real time has helped Ukrainian military commanders a lot in making reasonable decisions to target enemy targets.

Previously, the US New York Times newspaper said that the Russian army failed in a large-scale tank battle in the Vuhledar area in Donetsk.

The New York Times’ comments were made after images of burned Russian armored vehicles scattered across fields in Vuhledar were posted online.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian army lost at least 130 tanks and armored personnel carriers in recent fighting in Vuhledar, thereby turning this Eastern city into a place `easy to get to, hard to get back to`.

In addition to many tanks and armored vehicles being burned, according to the Intelligence Department under the British Ministry of Defense, the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade suffered huge and `irreparable` losses at Vuhledar.

The intelligence source said that Russia’s 155th Naval Infantry Brigade lost 150 to 300 soldiers every day and had to reorganize and replenish its forces three times.
